Abong
Angelina AtsimbomFounder and Executive Director

Atsimbom is a caring personality who is naturally drawn toward assisting others. She has a bachelor’s degree in history, an MBA, a master’s degree in counseling psychology, and presently completing a doctorate degree in developmental psychology with a specialization in Child and Adolescents development.

She is a certified mental health therapist and is currently serving as a Family Liaison Officer at the Southern Alberta Military Family Resource Centre in Calgary. She has worked with several non-profit organizations in the Calgary area, and is now leveraging her experience to give back to her community.

Atsimbom is passionate about making sure that all African-Canadians have access to the necessary information and resources they need to look after their mental health. She is of the opinion that African-Canadians are facing mental health issues, but that due to the low level of awareness this topic is not being openly discussed. Through her platform, New Channel African-Canadian Services, she is promoting awareness, advocating for their rights, and providing valuable research that supports this community and low-income families.

Dr. Yvonne
Dr. Yvonne Kangong, MD Board Member

Dr. Yvonne Kangong, MD is a keynote Speaker, mentor, advocate and community builder. She is a board-certified Family and obesity Medicine doctor in Calgary, Canada and holds a Master’s degree in Public Health and a Culinary Coaching Certificate from the Harvard CHEF Program. She is also a transformational and lifestyle coach.

She is a clinical lecturer with the Cummings School of Medicine, University of Calgary and received a teaching award in 2019 and other community awards. She is the founder of Breakers Health, a medical consultancy weight management and public speaking company, Co owner of KFS BBQ Smokehouse, Co Founder of charitable organization called Diabetic Meals Dispensary. She is the Associate Medical Director of the Mosaic Primary Care Network.

She is a co-author of the book” The Warrior Women Project” A asisterhood of immigrant women, and soon to be released author of “What’s Obesity Got To Do With It”?

She loves to volunteer and inspire others.

Daniel Nkengapa Board Member

Daniel Nkengapa is a community-driven individual with a passion for technology and innovation. He holds a Bachelor Degree in International Economics and has a strong interest in software development, resulting in a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field. Throughout his career, Daniel has worked on numerous projects, using his skills and creativity to develop innovative solutions and drive change. In his community, Daniel has served as president of several associations and groups, contributing to the growth of community projects and providing IT training to reduce unemployment and underemployment.

Daniel is a driven and motivated individual, who is dedicated to making a positive impact in his community.
